Eight seek
‘Unforgettable’ place in
Royal Family

The Miss La Crosse
Oktoberfest competition
will be at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 23, at
Valhalla in the
University of
Wisconsin-La Crosse’s
Cartwright Center.
The pageant has been
held each year since
1961, and the rest of
the 2006 Royal Family
will be announced at the
Mrs. Oktoberfest
Reception and the
Festmaster’s Ball.
The event’s theme is
“Unforgettable,” with
2005 Miss La
Crosse/Oktoberfest Beth
Bruzek performing. 2005
Miss Wisconsin Tracy
Gest will be the emcee.
Also performing will be
2006 Miss Wisconsin
Meghan Coffey, Brian
Schroeder, the Viterbo
Dance Team “The
Tailfeathers” and a La
Crosse Dance Centre
dance troupe.
Contestants will vie for
more than $12,800 in
local scholarship money.
Tickets are $12 and are
available from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. daily at the
Oktoberfest office at La
Crosse and Second
streets. Tickets also
can be purchased the
evening of the event at
the Cartwright Center.
A reception will be held
after the pageant.

platform is “Juvenile
Diabetes Awareness.“
Sarah Brown, daughter of
Donna Brown, vocal

Wisconsin-La Crosse. Her
platform is “The Power
of Music: Keeping the
A.R.T.S. in Education.“
Lindsay Bryant, daughter
of Kathleen Bryant and
the late Jack Wenger,
tumble/dance performance
to “Let’s Get Loud,”
attends Western
Technical College. Her
platform is “Animal
Abuse Awareness.”
Rachel Ferrara, daughter
of Lynn Zee Dokken and
Alex Knox, vocal
performance of
“Somewhere Out There.”
Her platform is
“Heritage Appreciation.”
Tiffany Krohn, daughter
of Susan and Timothy
Krohn, vocal performance
of “Somewhere Over the
