The Place to Fest? Here According to the USA Today

La Crosse Oktoberfest was named by the national newspaper as one of the top 10 places worldwide to toast Oktoberfest.

``It's wonderful,'' said 1999 Festmaster Rollo Taylor. ``It's good publicity for us. The reason Oktoberfest is there is it's a community celebration and a compliment to the community.``
Also named in USA Today's list are Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, Germany; Cincinnati; Torrance, Calif; Mount Angel, Ore; Helen Ga.; Shiner, Texas; Seattle; Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario and Tulsa, Okla.

Here's what USA Today had to say about La Crosse Oktoberfest:

``La Crosse once boasted eight German-owned or operated breweries. ... The college town's 40-year-old Oktoberfest 'has earned a reputation as one of the best Old World folk festivals in the U.S.' ``
